Mi Buenos Aires querido
After an absence of 10 years, KLM will resume scheduled services between Amsterdam Schiphol Airport and Buenos Aires Ezeiza Airport on Monday 31 October. It’s about time we meet the capital and largest city of Argentina.
After Brazil, Argentina is the second largest country in South America. It has great cultural diversity, as well as deserts, beaches, the Pampas and Patagonia. The inhabitants of Argentina are of both European and indigenous origin.
Buenos Aires, also known as the “Paris of the South”, is strongly influenced by European culture. The porteños, the local people from Buenos Aires, are very welcoming people, proud of their great culture, lively nightlife, good food and excellent wine. They are also a passionate nation: it’s no accident that the most passionate dance in the world, the tango, comes from Argentina. You should take a class when you’re there!
Believe it or not, Buenos Aires is still a largely undiscovered tourist destination. Visit Buenos Aires and you’ll be offered a warm welcome by the locals, who will be happy to meet you. With a high standard of living, very low crime rate, and an exceptional cultural diversity, Buenos Aires is a great city to explore.
The September issue of Holland Herald published a great article about the city (from page 28), while Richard de Nooy gave tips on where to go in Buenos Aires in his blog in July.
I’m sure that there are many readers who can share stories with us about our new KLM destination. Please don’t hesitate to do so.
